Ashwini Gowda is a Kannada actress, model, producer, and pro-Kannada activist born in 1985 in Bengaluru, Karnataka. She comes from a politically active family — her father, B. Muni Bacchappa, was a corporator and former chairman of K.R. Pura. She began her career in the early 2000s at the age of 15, initially as a TV anchor before transitioning to acting. Over a career spanning more than two decades, she has appeared in over 100 Kannada films and 25 television serials. Her most acclaimed roles include Chief Minister Madhuri Priyadarshini in Mahaparva (2014), Prathima Devi in Radhe Shyama, and Lakshmi in Muddulakshmi. On film, her credits include Raja Huli (2013), Odeya (2019), Pentagon (2023), and Rudra Garuda Purana (2025). Beyond entertainment, Ashwini is a prominent cultural activist and executive secretary of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (Karave), having faced over 25 police cases in connection with her pro-Kannada activism. In 2025, she entered Bigg Boss Kannada Season 12, where her outspoken nature and fearless personality made her one of the most talked-about contestants. She finished the season as second runner-up (3rd place).
