Deepak Thakur (born 24 March 1994) is an Indian singer and songwriter from Athar Village, Buxar District, Bihar. He grew up in a middle-class farming family; his father Pankaj Thakur is a farmer. Driven by a childhood passion for singing, the family relocated to Muzaffarpur so he could receive musical training. He studied at Oxford Public School and Pristine Children's High School, Muzaffarpur, before pursuing a BBA at Lalit Narayan Mishra College of Business Management, later dropping out of his MBA to focus on his career. He started by singing at weddings and local ceremonies before his breakthrough in 2012, when music director Sneha Khanwalkar cast him to sing 'Humni Ke Chhodi Ke' for Anurag Kashyap's Gangs of Wasseypur Part 1, followed by 'Moora-Morning' for Part 2. He later sang 'Adhura Main' for Mukkabaaz (2018). He is also popular in the Bhojpuri music industry and runs a widely-followed YouTube channel. In 2018, he entered Bigg Boss 12 with his student and girlfriend Urvashi Vani as a commoner jodi, finishing third overall after 104 days and winning ₹20 lakh.
