Guruprasada Ramachandra Sharma (2 November 1972 - October 2024), known as Guruprasad, was an Indian film director, writer, actor, producer, and author in the Kannada film industry. Born in Kanakapura, Bengaluru, he rose to prominence with his debut directorial Mata (2006), which became a cult hit for its satirical storytelling. His second directorial, Eddelu Manjunatha, also received strong critical praise. As an actor, he appeared in films such as Mylari (2010), Kal Manja and Hudugaru (both 2011), Whistle (2013), and Karodpathi (2014). He also started his own institution - Guruprasad's Institute of Script Writing and Film Direction - to nurture aspiring filmmakers. In 2014, he entered Bigg Boss Kannada Season 2 as a wildcard contestant in week 7, becoming one of the most controversial participants of the season due to his outspoken nature. He was evicted in week 12, finishing seventh overall. Guruprasad passed away in October 2024 at the age of 52.
