Hanumantha Lamani is an Indian folk singer born on 7 October 1993 in Haveri district, North Karnataka. He belongs to the Lambani (Banjara) community, one of Karnataka's tribal communities. He did his schooling at Hukkerimath High School, Haveri, and graduated from Gudleppa Hallikeri College, Haveri. Before his music career, he worked as a shepherd. A self-taught singer with no formal music training, he came to national attention when he competed in Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Kannada Season 15 (Colors Kannada, 2023), finishing as the first runner-up and receiving a prize including a site worth ₹15 lakh. He also participated in Dance Karnataka Dance Family War Season 2, hosted by Anushree in 2024. On 19 October 2024 (Day 21 of the season), he entered Bigg Boss Kannada Season 11 as a wildcard contestant, hosted by Kiccha Sudeep on Colors Kannada and JioCinema. His soulful folk singing, authenticity, emotional intelligence, and down-to-earth personality made him an immediate fan favourite. On 26 January 2025, he was crowned the winner of Season 11, receiving the trophy and a cash prize of ₹50 lakh. He received an overwhelming 5.23 crore votes in the finale - making him the first wildcard entrant to win a season in the 11-year history of Bigg Boss Kannada.
