Bio
Jazla Madasseri is an Indian social activist, rationalist, and politician born on 29 August 1995 in Manjeri, Malappuram district, Kerala, into a Muslim family. Her father works as a secretary at a local mosque and her mother is a homemaker. She has an elder sister (married) and a younger brother. She studied at HMY Higher Secondary School, Manjeri, and Noble Public School, before earning a BA in Arts and Social Science from Priyadarshini Arts & Science College, Malappuram. She completed an MBA in Human Resources from Impact College of Engineering and Applied Sciences. At age 20, she became student union president at Jawahar Balajanavedi. She served as Malappuram District Vice President of the Kerala Students Union (KSU, affiliated with the Indian National Congress). In December 2017, she gained national attention after participating in a flash mob of Muslim women at Tagore Theatre, Thiruvananthapuram, during the International Film Festival of Kerala - she and other participants danced publicly to celebrate equality and women's freedom in public spaces. She subsequently received multiple online death threats and abuse but continued her activism. A controversy with social activist Firoz Kunnamparambil, who made derogatory remarks about her online, further raised her profile; the Kerala State Women's Commission took up the matter against him. On Day 21 of Bigg Boss Malayalam Season 2, she entered as the first wildcard entrant. She used her immunity power to save herself from eviction during Week 8 nominations. She was evicted in Week 8 (Day 56), finishing 14th.
Gaining national attention after participating in a flash mob of Muslim women dancing at Tagore Theatre during the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) in December 2017 - she received death threats but continued speaking out; Kerala Students Union (KSU) Malappuram District Vice President; wildcard entrant on Bigg Boss Malayalam Season 2 (2020, Day 21).
