Bio
Lakshmi Priya (ലക്ഷ്മി പ്രിയ), born Sabeena Abdul Latheef on 11 March 1985, is an Indian actress who works in Malayalam films and television. Born to Kabir and Ramlath in Kayamkulam, Alappuzha district, Kerala, into a Muslim family, she had a turbulent childhood - her parents separated when she was two and a half, and she was raised by her paternal uncle Latheef in Nooranad, believing her mother was dead until she was fourteen. Despite these hardships, she found solace in the arts, participating in school events and earning the prestigious Kalathilakam title for dance. She attended St. Mary's LPS, CBMHS Nooranad, and PUM Vocational Higher Secondary School, Pallickal, but did not complete higher secondary education. She began her professional acting career at 16 in stage plays. Her film debut came with Naran (2005), directed by Mohanlal's frequent collaborator, and she went on to appear in 180+ Malayalam films over two decades, with notable roles in Thanmathra (2005), Chakkara Muthu (2006), Madampi (2009), Annan Thambi (2009), Evidam Swargamanu, and Aami (2018). She also appeared in 10+ Malayalam television serials including Sthreedhanam, Indumukhi Chandramathi, Devi Mahatmyam, Seetha, and Palunku. In 2019, she authored a memoir titled Kadhayum Kadhapathrangalum Sangalpikamalla. She married P. Jayesh, son of musician Pattanakkad Purushothaman, on 20 April 2005; they have a daughter, Mathangi Jai, and reside in Kakkanad. On 13 July 2021, she publicly announced her conversion to Hinduism. In March 2022, she returned to the public eye by entering Bigg Boss Malayalam Season 4, finishing as the fourth runner-up (third runner-up by some records) on 3 July 2022.
