Malu Nipanal is an Indian folk (Janapada) singer, lyricist, and actor born on 14 June 1995 in Nipanal village, Rayabhag Taluk, Belagavi district, Karnataka. He hails from North Karnataka, a region renowned for its rich folk traditions, and began performing at local fairs and community events at the age of just 12, developing his craft without formal musical education. He rose to widespread recognition through his viral YouTube hit 'Naa Driver, Nee Nanna Lover', which showcased his rustic, rhyming style rooted in North Karnataka folk music. He subsequently sang the track 'Hitalaka Karibyada Mava' for Yogaraj Bhat's blockbuster Kannada film Karataka Damanaka (2022), further cementing his place in Kannada music. His YouTube channel, Malu Nipanal Singer, has gained hundreds of thousands of subscribers. He is married to singer Meghana, with whom he frequently collaborates, and they have two sons, Shreyas and Bhajarangi. In 2025, he entered Bigg Boss Kannada Season 12, bringing his earthy personality and folk-music roots to a national audience. He was evicted in Week 13, finishing in 10th place.
