Manju Bhashini is a veteran Kannada television and film actress born in Chamarajanagara, Karnataka. She began her career in the 1990s with roles in serials such as Mayamruga, where she played Brinda. She rose to nationwide recognition in Karnataka households with her iconic portrayal of Lalitamba, the social-worker-mother character in the hit ETV Kannada sitcom Silli Lalli (2003–2007), co-starring Ravishankar Gowda and Roopa Prabhakar. After a hiatus, she made a successful comeback in 2021 with the Zee Kannada daily soap Puttakkana Makkalu — one of the channel's top-rated shows — where she played the shrewd but endearing moneylender Baddi Bangaramma alongside veteran actress Umashree. The show ran from December 2021 to 2024. She also co-runs the Lime Light Acting Academy alongside Silli Lalli colleagues. In September 2025, she entered Bigg Boss Kannada Season 12 as one of the first confirmed contestants. She was evicted in Week 3 during a mid-week elimination alongside Satish Cadaboms, finishing in 21st place. She was known inside the house for her balanced temperament and mediating role during conflicts.
