Mohan Shankar, popularly known as Mohan, is an Indian actor, writer, and film director who works in Kannada cinema and television. Born on 24 September in Bengaluru, his father Shankar worked with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited and his mother Satyabhama is a homemaker. He completed a Bachelor of Science in Electronics from National College, Bangalore, during which time he began acting in and writing plays. He married his college junior Vidya, a singer, in 1998. He began his film career as a writer in Kannada cinema and made his acting debut in 2000 with Yaarge Saalathe Sambala. He rose to popularity with the films Kurigalu Saar Kurigalu and Malla (2004), both starring Ravichandran. He wrote the story for the big-budget Kannada film Lava Kusha, starring Shivarajkumar and Upendra. He turned director with Krishna, Nee Late Aagi Baaro, in which he also starred alongside Ramesh Aravind and Nidhi Subbaiah. In 2016-17, he participated in Bigg Boss Kannada Season 4 and reached the finale, finishing fifth.
