Pratyusha Banerjee (10 August 1991 – 1 April 2016) was an Indian television actress born in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, into a Bengali family. Her father Shankar Banerjee is a social worker who runs an NGO. She studied at St. Xavier's College, Kolkata, before moving to Mumbai in 2010 to pursue acting. She made her debut in a supporting role in Rakt Sambandh before landing the lead role of Anandi in Colors TV's immensely popular Balika Vadhu in 2010, which she won through a public SMS poll. She became a household name as Anandi and went on to participate in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 5. She also appeared in Hum Hain Na, Sasural Simar Ka, and Gulmohar Grand. In 2013, she participated in Bigg Boss Season 7, finishing ninth. She later appeared in the Sony TV adventure show Power Couple (2015). She passed away on 1 April 2016 in Mumbai at the age of 24.
