Suraj Chavan is an Indian social media content creator and actor from Modhave village, Baramati, Pune district, Maharashtra. Born on 23 July (year undisclosed), his early life was defined by compounding tragedy: his father died of cancer when Suraj was around 10 years old, and shortly afterward, his mother and grandmother passed away on the same day, leaving him and his five sisters orphaned and dependent on an aunt. He completed only up to the 8th standard before being compelled to work as a field labourer to help support his family. He first found an audience through TikTok, where his humorous and relatable videos in Marathi attracted a large following before TikTok was banned in India in 2020. Undeterred, he pivoted to Instagram, where his signature catchphrases 'Goligath' and 'Bukkit Tengul' became viral and endeared him to Marathi-speaking audiences across Maharashtra and beyond. He subsequently grew his Instagram following to over 2.1 million. He also made his acting debut in the Marathi films Raja Rani and Musandi. In July 2024, he entered Bigg Boss Marathi Season 5, hosted for the first time by Riteish Deshmukh, as a social media influencer contestant. His down-to-earth personality, hard work during tasks, and absence of aggressive gameplay made him a runaway fan favourite from Day 1, consistently topping public voting charts throughout the season. He was crowned the winner at the grand finale on 6 October 2024, receiving the trophy, an electric bike, and prize money of ₹14.60 lakh. After the show, director Kedar Shinde announced that Suraj would make his mainstream acting debut in the upcoming Marathi film Zapuk Zupuk.
