Devoleena Bhattacharjee (born 22 August 1985) is an Indian television actress and trained Bharatanatyam dancer. She was born in Sivasagar, Assam, to a Bengali family; her father worked with the National Gas Corporation and passed away during her childhood, leaving her mother Anima to raise the children alone. She completed her schooling at Godhula Brown Memorial English High School in Sivasagar, then moved to New Delhi for a B.Com degree and a course in Jewellery Design and Development from the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT). A trained classical musician and dancer, she received vocal training from Bhatkhande Music Institute, Lucknow, and Bharatanatyam training from Kalakshetra Foundation, Chennai. She began her television career in 2010 on Dance India Dance Season 2, and made her acting debut in Sawaare Sabke Sapne… Preeto (2011) on NDTV Imagine. She rose to national fame as Gopi Bahu in Star Plus's Saath Nibhaana Saathiya (2012–2017), a role she portrayed for five years despite suffering a serious spinal injury on set in 2013. She also appeared in serials like Laal Ishq and Kundali Bhagya. She participated in Bigg Boss 13 (2019–20, finalist), Bigg Boss 14 (replacing Eijaz Khan), and Bigg Boss 15 (2021–22), finishing eighth. She married Shanwaz Shaikh in 2022.
