Jigna Vora is an Indian former crime reporter, author, and journalist born on 29 June 1974 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. She is a graduate of the University of Mumbai and built a career as one of Mumbai's most respected crime journalists, working for publications including Asian Age and Midday. In 2011, she was arrested and charged under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) as an alleged accessory in the murder of senior journalist Jyotirmoy Dey - India's most sensational journalist murder case. She spent nine months in Byculla prison, during which she was eventually granted bail, and was fully acquitted in 2019 after the trial court found no credible evidence against her. She authored the memoir Behind Bars in Byculla: My Days in Prison - later adapted into the acclaimed 2023 Netflix series Scoop, with Karisma Tanna playing a character inspired by her, titled Jagruti Pathak. In October 2023, she entered Bigg Boss Season 17 as an original contestant. She credited Munawar Faruqui's comedy videos with lifting her spirits during her worst days in prison. She was evicted in Week 6 (Day 40), finishing 18th overall.
