Somadas Haridasan (popularly known as Somadas Chathannoor) was an Indian playback singer born in 1978 (approximately) in Chathanoor, Kollam district, Kerala. His father was Haridasan and his mother was Manka Devi. He studied at St. Joseph's Convent GHSS, Kollam, and graduated from SN College, Kollam. Before his singing career took off, he worked as an autorickshaw driver. He rose to prominence after competing in the music reality show Idea Star Singer (Asianet, 2008) as a semi-finalist, where he was known for his renditions of Shankar Mahadevan's songs and emulating the style of Kalabhavan Mani. The late actor Kalabhavan Mani helped him break into playback singing for Malayalam films. He sang Kuruvaal Kuruvi from Annaarakkannanum Thannaalaayathu (2010), Dance Cheyyu Bayya from Mr Perfect (2016), and Ida Nenju from Mannaamkattayum Kariyilayum (2017), among others. He was married to Surya in 2005; the couple divorced and he had two children whose custody he had to fight for. On 5 January 2020, he entered Bigg Boss Malayalam Season 2. He was called into the confession room for a routine check-up on Day 15, where doctors found him to have high blood pressure, high blood sugar, and high cholesterol, and advised him to leave. He walked out on Day 16 (22nd place) for medical treatment. He later contracted COVID-19 and, despite testing negative, suffered kidney infection as a complication. He died of a cardiac arrest at Government Medical College Hospital, Kollam, at 3 AM on 31 January 2021, aged 42.
