Aastad Kale (आस्ताद काळे) is an Indian actor, theatre artist, and trained classical singer born on 16 May 1983 in Pune, Maharashtra. His father Pramod Kale was an influential presence and his mother is Sunita Kale. He completed his schooling at Maharashtra Mandal's Seth Dagaduram Katariya English Medium High School, Pune, and graduated from Fergusson College, Pune. From the age of four he trained in classical music; he has also performed Lavani (Maharashtrian folk dance, traditionally performed by women) in school, dressed in traditional costume, to great acclaim. His theatre career began with the Marathi play Lagna Kallol, and he has since appeared in acclaimed productions including Sangeet Lagnakallol, Kahe Kabir, and Proposal. He made his television debut with Vadalvaat and went on to appear in Agnihotra (2009), Pudhcha Paaul (Star Pravah, 2011-2017, in the central role of Soham Sardeshmukh), Oon Paus (2012), Saraswati (2015), and Chaar Divas Saasuche. His film credits include Nirop (2007), Platform (2011, dir. Veena Lokur), Damlelya Babachi Kahani (2016), the historical blockbusters Pawankhind (2022) and Sher Shivraj (2022), Harishchandrachi Factory, and Farzand, and he currently stars as Gautam Jahagirdar in Jaau Nako Door Baba (Sun Marathi). He also hosted shows on Saam TV. In his personal life, his former girlfriend actress Prachi Mate passed away from bone marrow cancer. He subsequently met actress Swapnalee Patil (with whom he co-starred on Pudhcha Paaul as husband and wife on screen), and married her on Valentine's Day 2021 in a simple court marriage. In April 2018, he participated in Bigg Boss Marathi Season 1, finishing as the fifth-place finalist at the grand finale on 22 July 2018.
