Pavithra Janani is a Tamil television actress born on 4 December 1992 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. She studied Computer Science at Alpha Arts and Science College and graduated from the University of Madras. Passionate about animals, she owns both a cat and a dog. She entered Tamil television with minor roles in popular serials such as Mahabharatham (Sun TV, 2013 – as Gandhari), Saravanan Meenatchi Seasons 2 and 3, and Raja Rani (as Divya). Her career transformed when she took on the lead role of Malarvizhi Vetrivel (Malar) in Eeramana Rojave (Star Vijay, 2018–2021), a tragic love story that made her a household name. She followed this with the lead role of IAS Abhinaya in Thendral Vandhu Ennai Thodum (Star Vijay, 2021–2024), cementing her status as one of Tamil television's top actresses. In October 2024, she entered Bigg Boss Tamil Season 8 and emerged as the Third Runner-Up. She was also awarded the best-performer prize — an all-expenses-paid trip to Vietnam — by audience vote during the season.
