Mumaith Khan is an Indian actress, dancer, and model born on 1 September 1985 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, into a Pathan family. Her father Abdul Rashid Khan hailed from Pakistan (her family relocated to Mumbai after the 1947 Partition) and her mother Hasina Khan came from Chennai. She has two elder sisters, including Zabyn. She grew up in poverty in a Mumbai chawl, started working at age 13, and initially earned ₹750 as a background dancer for choreographer Remo D'Souza. She began her screen career as a background dancer and rose to prominence through her item number in Sanjay Dutt's Munna Bhai MBBS (2003) as hospital dancer Reena. She became a sought-after performer in Telugu cinema with her sizzling item songs in Pokiri (2006), Ringa Ringa from Arya 2 (2009, with Allu Arjun), and dozens of others. She has appeared in item numbers and character roles in 90+ films across Telugu (42), Hindi (23), Tamil (17), Kannada (6), Bengali, and Odia industries. In 2013, she participated in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa Season 6. In 2015, she suffered a serious head injury that kept her in a coma for 15 days. She appeared in the film Bhookailas as the heroine opposite Venu Madhav. She was summoned by the ED and Telangana Excise Department in connection with a high-profile drug case, but was given a clean chit after investigation. In 2017, she participated in Bigg Boss Telugu Season 1. She left the house on Day 21 when summoned for questioning in the drug case, re-entered on Day 37 (Week 6) after being cleared, but was subsequently evicted in Week 7, finishing 8th. She later participated in Bigg Boss Non-Stop (Telugu OTT, 2022).
