Abbas Kazmi is an Indian criminal defence advocate based in Mumbai, Maharashtra. He is best known for representing Mohammed Ajmal Kasab — the sole surviving gunman from the 26 November 2008 Mumbai terrorist attacks, the deadliest terrorist attack in India's history — as Kasab's government-appointed defence counsel in the Mumbai Special Court trial. Kazmi's willingness to represent Kasab as per his legal duty under the Indian Constitution made him one of the most polarising and high-profile lawyers in India at the time. Kasab was convicted and executed in November 2012. He entered Bigg Boss 4 in October 2010 as one of the original 14 housemates, marking one of the rare instances of a criminal lawyer participating in a mainstream celebrity reality show. He was evicted in Week 1 on Day 6, finishing 15th overall.
