Akhil Sarthak (born 17 November 1995 in Hyderabad, Telangana) is an Indian actor and television anchor who predominantly works in the Telugu film and television industry. The son of Ram Kumar, a police constable, and Saroj, a homemaker, he was an average student but harboured a deep passion for music and acting from an early age. His parents were initially opposed to his career ambitions, but ultimately supported him on the condition he survive without luxuries until he proved himself. He completed his schooling at Silver Oaks International School, Hyderabad, and his graduation in engineering from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad. He began his career with the Telugu short film Bava Mardulu (2016), playing a lead villain role. He made his television debut in the negative lead of Zee Telugu's serial Muthyala Muggu (2017), followed by Evare Nuvvu Mohini, Matti Gajulu, Bangaru Gajulu, and his breakthrough as the male lead Karthik in Gemini TV's romantic drama Kalyani (2019). He was ranked third in the Hyderabad Times Most Desirable Men on Television list in 2018 and 2019. He has also hosted award shows and dance reality programmes, including anchoring for Dhee 14 - Dancing Icon. In 2020, Akhil participated in Bigg Boss Telugu Season 4, where his calm, measured personality, strong task performance, and emotional honesty built him a passionate fan following. He finished as the first runner-up at the grand finale on 20 December 2020, after 104 days in the house.
