Bio
Anoop Krishnan is an Indian actor, film director, and anchor born on 7 May 1990 in Pattambi, Palakkad, Kerala. His father, Unnikrishnan K, is a railway mail servant, and his mother, K. M. Shobhana Devi, is a homemaker. He has a brother, Akhilesh Krishnan (a high school teacher), and a sister, Akhila Krishnan (a college lecturer). He did his primary schooling at AUP School, Muthuthala, and high school at PHS Pallippuram, then higher secondary at VHSE Koppam, and earned a B.A. in Literature from SNGS & Co-Operative College, Pattambi. He is also known by the nickname 'Anughil'. He began his career in 2010 in front of the camera with the film Face in Facebook (shelved), then pivoted to anchoring stage shows, hosting more than 80 programs including Malabar Maholtsavam, DTPC Onam Fest, and the National Games closing ceremony. He made his film debut in Daivathinte Swantham Cleetus (2013) and went on to appear in Praise the Lord (2014), Sarvopari Palakkaran (2017), Ammamarathanalil (2017), Contessa (2018), and Ajagajantharam (2021). He had a breakthrough television role as Kalyan in Seetha Kalyanam (2018), which earned him the Asianet Television Award for Best Star Pair alongside Dhanya Mary Varghese in 2019. His Sanskrit film Ishti (2015) - for which he lost 11 kg and learned Kathakali ornament-making - was screened at the Indian Panorama section of IFFI Goa 2016. He directed the suspense-thriller short film De-Javu (2019) and the Kerala State Television Award-winning telefilm Kanmashi (2023), for which he won Best Actor and Best Director. He entered Bigg Boss Malayalam Season 3 on 14 February 2021, won the 'Gamer of the Season' title from host Mohanlal at the finale, and finished fifth overall.
