Season Journey CompleteKartik Das Baul
Bio
Kartik Das Baul is an Indian Baul folk singer from Dhandanga village, Labpur, Birbhum district, West Bengal - the historical heartland of the Baul tradition in Bengal. He is recognized as one of the leading contemporary practitioners and innovators of the Baul tradition, which encompasses the mystical folk music rooted in Vaishnavism, Sufi Islam, and the philosophy of the body as a spiritual vessel. Beyond traditional Baul, he became associated with the folk fusion movement - blending Baul music with rock, blues, and contemporary sounds - through the Bolepur Bluez collective. His music, characterized by the ektara and his deeply emotive vocal style, was featured in discussions of the Baul tradition's reach into international academic and musical communities. He has performed internationally, including concerts in Europe and the United States. He is also a Spotify-listed artist with a dedicated international following. He entered Bigg Boss Bangla Season 1 as a wildcard contestant in Week 2, becoming one of the first two wildcards of the season. His unorthodox, free-spirited personality and Baul philosophy stood in sharp contrast to the rest of the celebrity cast, making him a distinctive presence in the house. He was evicted in Week 10, finishing 8th overall.
