Kawaljit Singh (कवलजीत सिंह) is an Indian television actor and theatre artist born on 10 October 1964 in Amritsar, Punjab. He trained at the National School of Drama (NSD), New Delhi — one of India's foremost theatre institutions — and has been an active stage performer for over three decades, working extensively with Prithvi Theatre, Mumbai. He made his Hindi television debut in the early 1990s and became a recognisable face in Indian television drama. His most prominent role was Hemant Desai — a layered, morally complex character — in Ekta Kapoor's landmark daily soap Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi (Star Plus, 2000–2008), one of the longest-running and highest-rated Indian TV shows. He also appeared in Bade Achhe Lagte Hain (Sony TV), Qubool Hai (Zee TV), Baalveer (SAB TV), Hamari Sister Didi, and other serials. His extensive theatre background spans government-certified plays and Prithvi Theatre productions. In November 2015, he entered Bigg Boss 9 as the second wildcard contestant (Week 6, Day 39). He was evicted in Week 9, finishing eleventh overall.
