Kishwer Merchant Rai (किश्वर मर्चेंट) is an Indian television actress and model born on 3 February 1981 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, into a Shia Muslim family (father Siraj Merchant, mother Rizwana Merchant). Her nicknames include Kiku, Kiki, and Kish. She began her acting career in 1997 with a supporting role as Julia in the iconic superhero show Shaktimaan, followed by her most recognised early role as Nonie in Hip Hip Hurray (Zee TV, 1998–2000). Over a two-decade career she built a strong television filmography, with notable roles in Miley Jab Hum Tum (2007–2008, as Tamanna), Pyaar Kii Ye Ek Kahaani (2010–2011, as Haseena — one of Indian television's most beloved vampires), Ek Hasina Thi (2014, as Raima Maheshwari), Kaisi Yeh Yaariyan (2014–2016), Itna Karo Na Mujhe Pyaar (as Pooja), and Kulfi Kumar Bajewala (2018–2019, as Lovely). She also participated in Box Cricket League (Delhi Dragons team, alongside Suyyash Rai) and was nominated for Indian Telly Awards. In October 2015, she entered Bigg Boss 9 alongside her boyfriend Suyyash Rai as one of the show's Double Trouble pairs. She was widely considered the season's strongest female player. In Week 13, during the Ticket to Finale task, she was forced to quit after exhausting her endurance and walked out of the house, taking ₹15 lakh. She was described by host Salman Khan and multiple contestants as the moral heart of the season. She and Suyyash married on 16 October 2016; they have a son, Nirvair Rai, born in November 2021.
