Mahek Chahal (real name Raspreet Kaur Chahal, also known as Priti Chahal) is a Norwegian-Indian actress and model born on 1 February 1979 in Oslo, Norway, into a Punjabi-Sikh family. She grew up in Norway and subsequently relocated to Mumbai to pursue a career in Indian cinema. Standing at 5 feet 8 inches, she is a classically trained dancer and has performed in item numbers across multiple Indian film industries. She made her acting debut with the Telugu film Neetho (2002) and her Hindi debut with Nayee Padosan (2003). She gained widespread recognition through her performances as a dance artist in Bollywood productions — most notably her item numbers in Chameli (2004, alongside Kareena Kapoor Khan), Jai Veeru (2009, Agre Ka Ghagra), and Yamla Pagla Deewana (2011, Chamki Mast Jawaani). She has also performed in Telugu, Punjabi, Bengali, Kannada, and Tamil film songs, making her one of Bollywood's most multilingual item number performers. Her acting career expanded with Colors TV's supernatural hit Naagin 6 (2022), in which she played the role of Naagin Mahek. In October 2011, she entered Bigg Boss 5 on Colors TV. She was evicted in Week 10, then returned to the house in Week 13 as a returnee, reaching the grand finale where she finished as the first runner-up on 7 January 2012. Her relationship with fellow contestant Ashmit Patel (from Power Couple, 2015) attracted significant media coverage. In 2021, she participated in Khatron Ke Khiladi 11 (Colors TV, South Africa), and participated in Bigg Boss Halla Bol. In 2012, she opened her own clothing store — Mahek Chahal Clothing — in Oslo, Norway.
