Pravin Gandhi (also credited as Praveenkanth) is an Indian film director, actor, and producer born on 10 February 1974 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. He entered the Tamil film industry with ambitions to become an actor and worked as a co-director under Priyadarshan before getting his directorial debut. His debut directorial venture, Ratchagan (1997) — a high-budget action film starring Nagarjuna and Sushmita Sen with music by A.R. Rahman — was one of India's most expensive productions at the time. Though it underperformed commercially, his follow-up, the romantic hit Jodi (1999) starring Prashanth and Simran, was a major success. He subsequently directed Star (2001) and the biographical drama Pulipaarvai (2014), on which he also served as producer, composer, editor, and art director. In 2025, he entered Bigg Boss Tamil Season 9 as a contestant and was evicted in week 1.
