Ranjith is a veteran Tamil film actor, director, and producer born on 15 November 1972 in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, raised in Chennai. He completed his graduation from Government Arts College, Coimbatore. He made his film debut in Pon Vilangu (1993) before establishing himself as a versatile villain and character actor. Notable films include Ponnumani (1993), Maru Malarchi (1998, for which he won the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Villain as Manimaran), Bharathi Kannamma (1997), Sathriyan (1990), and Pandavar Bhoomi (2001, directed by Cheran), his most acclaimed role. He has appeared in over 100 Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam films, including Pasupathi c/o Rasakkapalayam. He also directed and produced the film Bheeshmar (2003). He transitioned to Tamil television, playing Duraisingam in Senthoora Poove (Star Vijay, 2020–2022) and Pazhaniswami in Baakiyalakshmi (Star Vijay, 2023). He has also been associated with AIADMK politics in Tamil Nadu. In October 2024, he entered Bigg Boss Tamil Season 8 and was evicted in Week 11 (Day 77), finishing 13th overall.
