Resham Tipnis (रेशम टिपणीस) is an Indian actress born on 28 August 1973 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. She attended I.E.S. Modern English School, Mumbai, and completed her early education before entering the entertainment industry in her teens. She married actor Sanjeev Seth - twelve years her senior - at the age of 20 in 1993; they have a son Manav Seth and a daughter Rishika Seth, but divorced in 2004 after eleven years together. She has also reportedly filed a domestic violence complaint against her ex-husband. She was subsequently in a relationship with Sandesh Kirtikar. She made her on-screen debut in the Marathi film Jiwalagaa (1992), followed immediately by her Bollywood breakthrough with a supporting role as Anjali Sinha in Abbas-Mustan's blockbuster thriller Baazigar (1993, starring Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol). She made her TV debut with Campus (1994), and went on to build a celebrated career in Hindi comedy television through sitcoms Shrimaan Shrimati, Tu Tu Main Main (as Manu's mother), and Sahib Biwi Aur Boss (as Mandodari). She also appeared in Baa Bahu Aur Baby, Do Dil Ek Jaan (Life OK, as Saroj), Satrangi Sasural (as Babita), Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, and Half Marriage. Her film career includes supporting roles in Bhishma Pratigya (1993), Hathyar (2002), Jai Ho (2014, as Daisy Shah's mother), Premasathi Coming Suun (2014), the Bollywood film City of Gold, and the Marathi films Khabardar, Premasathi Coming Suun, and Bucket List (2018). After an eight-year break from acting, she made a notable return to Sony TV's Punyashlok Ahilyabai as Maharani Dwarkabai Holkar (July 2022-October 2023). In April 2018, she was the first contestant introduced on Bigg Boss Marathi Season 1 and was assigned to lead the cooking department by host Mahesh Manjrekar. Her connection with fellow contestant Rajesh Shringarpure became a storyline of the season. She was evicted in Week 13, finishing seventh overall.
