Bio
Sapna Bhavnani (born 5 January 1971) is an Indian celebrity hairstylist, salon owner, and author from Bandra, Mumbai, of Sindhi heritage. Her father, a restaurant owner, died when she was 18, plunging the family into financial difficulty. She dropped out of college in Mumbai and moved to Chicago, USA, where she studied business administration and discovered her talent for hairstyling. After returning to India, she worked at a Mumbai salon called Juice before opening her first hair salon, Mad-O-Wot, in Bandra in 2004. Known for its eclectic, funky interior, the salon attracted A-list clients including Katrina Kaif, Bipasha Basu, Hrithik Roshan, John Abraham, Gauri Khan, and cricketers MS Dhoni, Yuvraj Singh, Virat Kohli, and Gautam Gambhir. She subsequently opened a second Mad-O-Wot location in Andheri in 2011. In 2009, she published a self-help book for teenagers, Style-O-Wot. In 2013, she participated in the theatre production NIRBHAYA, which won the Amnesty International Freedom of Expression Award at Edinburgh. She was a columnist for Mumbai Mirror and MiD DAY for several years. In 2012–13, she participated in Bigg Boss 6, where her bold opinions, distinctive look, and refusal to conform made her one of the season's most memorable figures. She lasted 90 days before eviction in week 13, finishing seventh.
