Bio
Shamita Shetty (born 2 February 1979) is an Indian actress and interior designer. Born in Mangaluru, Karnataka, and raised in Mumbai, she is the younger sister of actress Shilpa Shetty. She belongs to a Tulu-speaking Bunt family. She studied commerce at Sydenham College of Commerce and Economics, and fashion designing at SNDT Women's University, both in Mumbai, before later studying interior design at the Inchbald School of Design and Central Saint Martins in London. She made her film debut with the Yash Raj blockbuster Mohabbatein (2000), directed by Aditya Chopra, earning the IIFA Award for Star Debut of the Year – Female. She became a household name for her chart-topping item number 'Sharara Sharara' from Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai (2001). Her subsequent films included Wajahh (2004), Fareb (2004, with sister Shilpa), Zeher (2005), and Cash (2007). She later transitioned into interior designing, founding a company called Golden Leaf Interiors and designing notable spaces including the Royalty nightclub in Mumbai and the Chandigarh Iosis Spa, which won a best interior award at the Asia Spa Awards. She participated in Bigg Boss 3 (2009, leaving for Shilpa's wedding), Bigg Boss OTT (2021), and Bigg Boss 15 (2021–22), finishing fourth in the latter season.
Her Bollywood debut in the blockbuster Mohabbatein (2000), her item number 'Sharara Sharara' (2002), and her lead role in Zeher (2005).
