Shamita Shetty (born 2 February 1979 in Mumbai, Maharashtra) is an Indian actress, model, and interior designer. She is the younger sister of actress, producer, and restaurateur Shilpa Shetty Kundra. She attended SIES College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Mumbai, and trained as an interior designer. She made a highly anticipated Bollywood debut in Karan Johar's multi-starrer blockbuster Mohabbatein (2000), playing Ishika — one of the student-couple leads — alongside stars including Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, and Aishwarya Rai. She subsequently appeared in Saathiya (2002, dir. Shaad Ali, alongside Vivek Oberoi and Rani Mukerji), Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai (2002), Main Prem Ki Diwani Hoon (2003), and Cash (2007). Despite a glamorous debut, her film career did not reach the heights anticipated and she pivoted to television and reality shows. She participated in Bigg Boss Season 3 (2009), Bigg Boss OTT Season 1 (2021) where she was the runner-up, and Bigg Boss Season 15 (2021–22). In Bigg Boss Season 3, she walked out voluntarily on Day 41 (Week 7), citing personal reasons, finishing 10th overall.
