Bio
Shweta Pandit is an Indian playback singer, songwriter, recording artist, and actress born on 7 July 1986 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. She began her music career at the extraordinary age of four, collaborating with legendary composer Ilaiyaraaja on the Tamil film Anjali (1990, directed by Mani Ratnam), for which the Hindi dubbed version used her voice. She went on to perform and sing in several films as a child, including Dil Kya (1999) and Raju Chacha (1999), and collaborated with world-renowned tabla maestro Ustad Zakir Hussain on the film Saaz (1996). Her national breakthrough came at age 14 when she was chosen to sing five songs for Yash Raj Films' blockbuster Mohabbatein (2000). At 16, she released her debut pop album Main Zindagi Hoon (2002) with EMI Virgin Records - becoming the youngest Indian pop star at the time. She followed this with the Bollywood playback singles Aplam Chaplam (2005, featuring Salman Khan) and continued releasing original music. Her Bollywood playback credits span decades and include songs for Highway, Partner, Welcome, Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna, Neil n Nikki, Ladies vs Ricky Bahl, Joker, and Yamla Pagla Deewana. She has also recorded in Telugu, Tamil, and Kannada. She married Ivano Fucci in 2016 and currently divides her time between India and Italy. In March 2013, she entered Bigg Boss Kannada Season 1 on ETV Kannada as one of the original contestants. She was eliminated in Week 3 (Day 19), finishing fourteenth.
