Shweta Tiwari is an Indian actress and model born on 4 October 1980 in Pratapgarh, Uttar Pradesh, into a middle-class family. She grew up in Mumbai, completing her commerce graduation from Burhanis College, Mazgaon. Before entering the entertainment industry, she worked for a brief period at a travel agency for ₹500 per month. She made her television debut in 1999 and rapidly rose to national fame with her portrayal of Prerna Sharma Bajaj in Ekta Kapoor's landmark Star Plus serial Kasautii Zindagii Kay (2001–2008), opposite Cezanne Khan. The character made her a household name across India and earned her multiple ITA Star Parivaar Awards for Best Actress. She went on to appear in Bollywood films including Madhoshi (2004), Aabra Ka Daabra (2004), and Bin Bulaye Baraati, and participated in dance reality shows including Nach Baliye Season 2 and Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa Season 6. She returned to television with memorable lead roles in Parvarrish – Kuchh Khattee Kuchh Meethi (2011), Begusarai (2015), Mere Dad Ki Dulhan (2019), and Main Hoon Aparajita (2022). She also won the comedy reality show Comedy Circus Ka Naya Daur and appeared in Khatron Ke Khiladi 11 (2021). In her personal life, she married actor Raja Chaudhary in 1998 and filed multiple domestic violence complaints against him; the couple divorced in 2012. They have a daughter, Palak Tiwari (herself a Bollywood actress). She later married actor Abhinav Kohli in 2013, with whom she has a son, Reyansh; they separated in 2019. She entered Bigg Boss Season 4 (Colors TV, hosted by Salman Khan, 3 October 2010) and won the grand finale on 8 January 2011 — becoming the first female winner in Bigg Boss history — taking home ₹1 crore in prize money.
