Som Shekar is an Indian actor, model, MMA trainer, and fitness enthusiast born on 12 July 1992 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. His father is a retired army officer and his mother is a homemaker. He has a younger brother named Lathu. He began his career as a model and has appeared in over 100 television commercials. He made his first TV appearance on Star Vijay's Azhagiya Tamil Magan (2010), where he finished as the runner-up. He subsequently trained extensively in mixed martial arts and boxing, earning two international gold medals in boxing competitions. His passion for fitness made him a prominent figure during the COVID-19 lockdown when his workout videos went viral on social media. He was also set to make his Tamil film debut playing an Air Force officer. In 2020, he participated in Bigg Boss Tamil Season 4 hosted by Kamal Haasan and finished 5th as a finalist.
