Vikram Chatterjee is an Indian actor born on 17 May 1987 in Kolkata, West Bengal, to Bijoy Chatterjee and Mallika Chatterjee. He attended Hirendra Leela Patranavis School (formerly Better High School), Kolkata, and graduated from South City Day College (Heramba Chandra College) with a degree in Marketing. Before acting, he worked at Nik Nish, then Wipro, and spent three years at HSBC Bank in IT operations before pursuing his dream of performing. He began his screen career with a role in the Zee Bangla serial Saat Paake Bandha. His big screen debut came in Mainak Bhowmik's Bedroom (2012), where he was immediately noticed in a small role. In the same year he played a lead in Bappaditya Bandopadhyay's Elar Char Adhyay, based on Tagore's last novel. He followed this with a succession of Bengali films including Ami Aar Amar Girlfriends (2013), Hoichoi (2013), Ami Shudhu Cheyechi Tomay (2014), and Shaheb Bibi Golaam (2016) - the last earning him widespread critical praise for his portrayal of the antagonist Zico. His television breakthrough came with Ichchenodi (Star Jalsha, 2015-2017), in which his portrayal of Dr. Anurag Banerjee became a pan-Bengal phenomenon. He won the Tele Cine Award for Best Male Actor for the role and was named Calcutta Times' 'Hottest Man of Tollywood'. He later appeared in Phagun Bou (Star Jalsha, 2018-2019) and hosted Dance Bangla Dance Season 11 (Zee Bangla, 2021). His career also intersected with legal controversy - he was found culpable in the death of model Sonika Chauhan in a 2017 car crash while he was at the wheel, a case that impacted his professional activities for years. He entered Bigg Boss Bangla Season 1 in June 2013 - notably before his breakthrough fame - and was evicted in Week 8, finishing 10th.
