Aseem Trivedi (born 6 February 1986) is an Indian political cartoonist and activist from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. He shot to national prominence in 2012 when he was arrested on charges of sedition for publishing cartoons critical of the Indian government and Parliament during the India Against Corruption movement led by Anna Hazare. His arrest triggered protests across the country from civil society organisations, media bodies, and internet freedom advocates. The charges were later dropped. He was described by the press as one of the most provocative voices of his generation in Indian political satire. In 2012, he participated in Bigg Boss 6, lasting 26 days before eviction in week 4, finishing seventeenth overall.
