Amruta Dhongade is a Marathi actress and Kathak dancer born on 11 October 1997 in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, and raised in Pune. Her father Manikrao Dhongade works at the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation in Pune, and her mother Smita is a homemaker. She has an elder sister, Puja. She completed schooling at Renuka Swarup Girls High School, Sadashiv Peth, Pune, and earned a BSc in Botany from Bharati Vidyapeeth, Pune. A trained Kathak dancer since childhood, she was encouraged by friends to channel her performance skills into acting. Her film debut came with the Marathi film Mithun (2018), playing the female lead Kanchi opposite Vishal Nikam (Bigg Boss Marathi Season 3 winner). Her television debut and breakthrough came with the Zee Marathi soap opera Mrs. Mukhyamantri (2019), where her portrayal of small-town girl Suman who becomes Maharashtra's Chief Minister's wife was widely appreciated. She followed this with the lead role of Charu - a garage mechanic's daughter with motor repair skills - in Sony Marathi's Tu Chandane Shimpit Jashi (2020). She was honoured with the Global Icons of India Award in 2021. In October 2022, she entered Bigg Boss Marathi Season 4. She was involved in a widely discussed altercation with Rakhi Sawant and was punished by Bigg Boss for property damage during the season. She finished as the Third Runner-Up at the grand finale on 8 January 2023.
