Amma Rajasekhar (born Arumugam Rajasekhar; 25 May 1979 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu) is an Indian film director, choreographer, and actor who works predominantly in the Telugu and Tamil film industries. His real name is Arumugam Rajasekhar, and he is known professionally as Amma Rajasekhar. His father, Silamba Arumugam, was a fight master in South Indian films, and his mother, Andalu, is a homemaker; his daughter is Radha Rajashekar. He completed his schooling at JRK Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Chennai. Growing up accompanying his father to film sets sparked his passion for cinema. He trained in dance under the guidance of Anthony Master's associates and Tara Master, beginning his career as a choreographer for Telugu and Tamil film songs. He later transitioned to direction, making his debut with Khatarnak (2006) for which he was nominated for the Filmfare Best Director Award (Tamil). His Telugu breakthrough came with the blockbuster action film Ranam (2006) starring Gopichand, produced by Dil Raju, which made him a sought-after director. He subsequently directed Brahmastram (2006), Raju Bhai (2007), Mudra (Tamil/Telugu, 2012), Koduran (Tamil, 2016), and Ranam 2 (2015), in which he also acted, making his acting debut. He has also judged Telugu dance reality shows including Challenge (2010), Gharshana (2010), and Rangam 2 (2012). He was arrested by Hyderabad police in 2015 following an altercation with a gym trainer, and was also caught in a drink-and-drive case in 2017. In 2020, he participated in Bigg Boss Telugu Season 4. He was evicted in Week 9 (Day 62), finishing tenth overall.
