Gudimela Raja Shekar (గుడిమెళ్ళ రాజా శేఖర్), known professionally as Shekar Basha or RJ Shekar Basha, is an Indian radio jockey, video jockey, actor, and social activist born on 6 July 1982 in East Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh. He completed his degree in Computer Science from the University of Mysore. He is married with children and is an avid animal lover. He debuted as a VJ at Gemini Music on 10 April 2005, hosting shows including Hi Bujji (children's) and Sunday Hum-Sandeham. On 26 November 2006, he joined Red FM 93.5 as an RJ, before shifting to 92.7 BIG FM Hyderabad in August 2007. There he took over Big Sandadi (formerly hosted by anchor Jhansi), rebranding it Happy Mornings in 2009 and later Sallaam Telangana after Telangana's formation in 2014. The show won Best Breakfast Show (Telugu) in 2017. In September 2007 he completed India's first 92.7-hour non-stop Telugu FM broadcast. He has since completed four marathon broadcasting feats, all dedicated to social causes. He coined the Telugu phrase 'Kevvu Keka', which became so culturally pervasive it was used in films and TV shows. He has won 18 Excellence in Radio Awards from the India Radio Forum (2007-2019), including the RJ of the Year 2019 - the most by any RJ in India. As an actor he appeared in Welcome Obama (2013) and Panchamukhi (2014), and as a director made Vethika Nenu Naa Ishtamga (2013). He has been a vocal activist on social causes. In 2024, he entered Bigg Boss Telugu Season 8 from Day 1 and was evicted in Week 2, finishing twenty-first overall.
