Ananth Vaidyanathan is an Indian singing trainer, musician, playback singer, and actor born in 1957 in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand. He began learning music at age 7. He graduated from Xavier School of Management (XLRI), Jamshedpur, and Loyola College, Chennai, earning an MBA, and subsequently joined the ITC Sangeet Research Academy for advanced music training. In 1981, he lost grip in his voice due to training errors and recovered with the help of Irish singer Peter Calatin during a period in Europe. He began giving professional voice lessons in 2003 and transitioned to television training in 2006-07, becoming a beloved fixture as the voice expert and mentor on Vijay TV's Super Singer (Junior and Senior) as well as other shows including Indian Idol, Jhoom India, Little Master, and Josco Indian Voice (Mazhavil Manorama). He is known for his distinctive voice analysis methods (influenced by Frederick Husler) and his gentle mentoring style. He also sang the Tamil song Om Sivoham and played an acting role in Bala's Avan Ivan (2011, featuring Arya and Vishal). In 2018, he participated in Bigg Boss Tamil Season 2 and was evicted in Week 3, finishing 16th.
