Arun Sagar is an Indian actor, art director, comedian, and television presenter born on 23 October 1963 in Sagara, Shivamogga district, Karnataka. He married Meera, with whom he has two children - a son, Surya Sagar, and a daughter, Aditi Sagar. He began his entertainment career as an art director, making his debut with the Kannada film Bhoomi Geetha - which won the National Award for Best Environmental Film. He went on to work as an art director across multiple Kannada and Telugu films, receiving the Karnataka State Award for Best Art Direction for his work on Sri Manjunatha. He worked with veteran directors including Poori Jagannath, Meher Ramesh, Veerashankar, and K. Raghavendra Rao. He branched into acting and hosting, running the children's art and craft show Tarrle on Kasturi TV, before his defining television breakthrough with Maja with Sruja on Asianet Suvarna (2011) - a comedy show in which his sharp parodies of celebrities and politicians became enormously popular. He subsequently hosted Comedy Circle on ETV Kannada. He also appeared in the Telugu comedy-drama Koyyam Kotra (2013), Bengaluru Benne Dose (2015), and Simpallag Ondu Singing Show. In March 2013, he was introduced as the first contestant to enter the Bigg Boss Kannada Season 1 house. His natural wit, warmth, and genuine personality made him a strong competitor throughout the 98-day season. He finished as the first runner-up on 30 June 2013. He returned to compete on Bigg Boss Kannada Season 9 (2022).
