Geetha Bharathi Bhat (nicknamed Gundamma by fans) is an Indian actress and singer born on 30 August 1994 in Moodabidri, Dakshina Kannada, Karnataka, into an orthodox family. Her father is Ratnakar Bhat; her siblings include two sisters, Divya Bharti Bhat and Shruti Raghav Kamat, and two brothers, Navneet Prabhu and Nitish Bhargava. She completed her early schooling at Nirmala Rani English Primary School in Moodabidri and Sri Vani Girls High School, then her intermediate education at Vidya Mandir Independent PU College. She earned a Bachelor of Commerce from Seshadripuram Institute of Management Studies, Bengaluru. From her school days she was passionate about singing and participated actively in cultural programmes. She made her acting debut in 2018 with the Zee Kannada serial Bramhagantu, playing the lead role of Geetha - an overweight girl navigating family life and relationships. The role - which required considerable physical and emotional preparation - became her career-defining work, making her a familiar face in Karnataka homes over three years of the show. She also participated in Dance Karnataka Dance: Family War (Colors Kannada, 2020) and had a cameo in the Kannada film Love Mocktail (2020). On 14 February 2021, she released her first music album Sweetu alongside Aadithyaa Vinod. In 2020, she was named in connection with the Sandalwood drugs scandal but denied any involvement. In February 2021, she entered Bigg Boss Kannada Season 8. She was eliminated in Week 3 (Day 20), finishing eighteenth.
