Jaanmoni Das is an Indian celebrity makeup artist, classical dancer, and transgender activist born on 1 May 1989 in Guwahati, Assam. She is reportedly a relative of the legendary Assamese singer-composer Bhupen Hazarika. Her father worked for the railways and her mother was a homemaker; she spent much of her childhood with her grandmother. Recognising her identity as a girl from a young age, she ran away from home at 14, eventually settling in Kerala after working in the Assamese entertainment industry. A formally trained Sattriya and Bharatanatyam dancer, she joined a travelling theatre company before pivoting to makeup. She apprenticed under Assamese makeup artist Ratul Boro and started her bridal makeup career in 2006. After moving to Kerala - initially through a Malayalam film project - she became one of Kerala's premier celebrity makeup artists, styling Manju Warrier, Amala Paul, Mohanlal, Nazriya Nazim, Lissy Priyadarshan, and Ranjini Haridas, and working on films including Colour of the Sky (2012), Run Baby Run (2012), Kalimannu (2013), and How Old Are YouINR (2014). She founded Evolve Fashion Academy, her own makeup academy. She is an active member of the Dhwayah Transgender Cultural and Charitable Organization, and charges approximately ₹50,000 for bridal makeup services. In March 2024, she entered Bigg Boss Malayalam Season 6 as one of the original contestants and the only transgender contestant in the season's history. On Day 41, upon being evicted, she made the gesture of passing her Power Team badge to Sreerekha Rajagopal. She was eliminated in Week 6 (Day 40), finishing twentieth.
