Koena Mitra is an Indian actress and model born on 9 September 1981 in Kolkata, West Bengal, into a Bengali family. She attended St. Joseph's Convent School and Lady Brabourne College in Kolkata before relocating to Mumbai to pursue modelling and acting. She made her Bollywood debut in Musafir (2004), where her sensational item number 'Saki Saki' (with Sanjay Dutt) became one of the decade's biggest dance anthems and catapulted her to national recognition overnight. She went on to appear in Apna Sapna Money Money (2006), Raqeeb: Rival in Love (2007), Anamika (2008, lead role in the horror film opposite Dino Morea), Akbar Birbal (2015), and Golmaal Again (2017) in a guest appearance. She has also participated in several stage shows and music events. In September 2019, she entered Bigg Boss 13 on Colors TV as one of its original contestants. She was eliminated in Week 2 (Day 13), finishing twenty-first. Despite her brief stay, she was one of the season's most high-profile opening entries.
