Mugen Rao (born 20 October 1995 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) is a Malaysian Tamil singer, actor, and lyricist. The son of stage singer Prakash Rao Krishnan, he grew up surrounded by music and performed in over fifty stage shows alongside his father before launching a solo career. He holds a Diploma in Performing Arts from Limkokwing University, Cyberjaya. His music career took off in 2016 when his Tamil music video 'Kayalvizhi' went viral on YouTube, earning him a large digital fan base across Malaysia and Tamil Nadu. Subsequent hits include 'Anbe Aruyire', 'Pogiren', and 'Oththa Thamarai'. He also appeared in Malay television productions including Gerak Khas and films including Ghora (2018). In 2019, Mugen became the first Malaysian contestant in Bigg Boss Tamil history, participating in Season 3. He won the title after 104 days in the house, becoming the first international contestant to win any Indian Bigg Boss edition. Following his victory, he relocated to Chennai to build a Kollywood career. He made his Tamil film debut as lead actor in Velan (2021) and later starred in Jinn - The Pet (2025).
