Rashmi R. Rao, popularly known as RJ Rapid Rashmi, is an Indian radio jockey, television anchor, actress, singer, and master of ceremonies from Bengaluru, Karnataka. She completed her higher education in mass communication in Pune. She is a classically trained singer who received nearly 18 years of training in Hindustani music under classical singer Parameshwar Hegde. She originally aspired to become a lawyer but began her career as a temporary compere on Udaya TV and ETV, simultaneously working as a marketing consultant at Standard Chartered Bank. In 2007, Big FM 92.7 Bengaluru hired her to host the afternoon drive show Rapid Adda (originally called Broadcast Bandi), a wide-ranging live programme covering daily events, Bengaluru hangout spots, Bollywood gossip, and youth interactions - which ran for years and made her one of Karnataka's most recognisable radio voices. She hosted numerous Kannada TV shows including Suprabhata, Bari Bindaas, and Retro Savaari. She made her film debut as a lead actress in Namakharam (directed by Kiran Govikiran, starring alongside Ravishankar Gowda). She sang playback for Deal Raja (2016) and in 2019 released her first Kannada rap single Independent-U through her own label Rapid Rashmi Productions. In October 2018, she entered Bigg Boss Kannada Season 6 as one of the nine celebrity contestants. Her quick wit, direct communication, and energetic personality made her one of the season's most discussed contestants. She reached the grand finale, finishing as the fourth runner-up (fifth place) on 27 January 2019.
