Shanthi Arvind, popularly known as Metti Oli Shanthi or Shanthi Master, is an Indian dancer, choreographer, and actress born on 17 February 1980 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. She grew up in a financially struggling single-parent household in Chennai and began her career at the age of 10 as a child dancer in the Tamil film Kizhakku Vaasal (1990, dir. R.V. Udayakumar). By age 15 she was working as an assistant dance master across Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi productions. Her most iconic moment came in 2002, when she performed the title-song dance for the Sun TV serial Metti Oli (811 episodes) - choreographed and shot in a single night - which became one of the most recognised title sequences in Tamil TV history and earned her the enduring nickname 'Metti Oli Shanthi'. She went on to choreograph songs in films including Ayutha Ezhuthu (2004, with A.R. Rahman), Aakkam (2017), and Mundrikkadu (2018). As an actress she appeared in negative/villi roles in serials such as Kannana Kanne, Muthazhagu, Eeramana Rojave, Kula Deivam, and Anbe Vaa, winning the Vijay Tele Award for Best Villi and the Ajantha TV Award for Best Villi. She married Arvind in 2007 and has two children. She entered Bigg Boss Tamil Season 6 in October 2022 as the second contestant to leave, evicted in Week 2, finishing in 20th place.
