VJ Sunny (real name Arun Reddy) is an Indian television actor, video jockey, and anchor born on 17 August 1989 in Khammam, Telangana. His mother, Kalavathi, worked as a staff nurse, and his father, Venkateshwarulu, is a government employee. He has two older brothers, Ujwal and Spandan. He completed his schooling at Nirmala High School in Khammam, studied his Class 11 and 12 at Khammam Study Circle and Karimnagar respectively, and earned a B.Com degree from Osmania University, Hyderabad. After moving to Hyderabad, he began his entertainment career as an anchor with the TV show Just For Men before working as a page 3 and lifestyle journalist and reporter for a news channel. He then joined Maa Music as a Video Jockey, where he built a regional following with his engaging hosting style and screen nickname Sunny - inspired by his favourite bike. In 2017, he made his acting debut in the Telugu daily soap Kalyana Vaibhogam (Zee Telugu), where he played the lead character Jayasurya (alias Jai), earning widespread fame across the Telugu-speaking states. He left the serial in early 2021 to pursue a film debut in Sakalagunabhi Rama. In September 2021, he entered Bigg Boss Telugu Season 5 hosted by Akkineni Nagarjuna on Star Maa. Over 106 days, his natural wit, composed gameplay, and viral catchphrases made him a runaway crowd favourite. He was declared the winner on 19 December 2021, receiving a trophy, ₹50 lakh cash prize, a bike, and a plot worth ₹25 lakh. In a celebratory moment at the finale, he famously lifted host Nagarjuna off the ground in joy.
