Karishma Tanna (born Karishma K. Tanna, 21 December 1983 in Mumbai, Maharashtra) is an Indian actress, model, and television host from a Gujarati family. She attended Maneckji Cooper Education Trust School and MK High School in Juhu and earned a BA from Mithibai College, Mumbai. She made her television debut as Kamini in Ekta Kapoor's Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi (Star Plus, 2001), immediately setting herself apart. She went on to appear in more than 20 television serials over the next decade, including popular roles in Shararat, Kasamh Se (as Pia), Naagin 3 (as Bela/Shivangi), and Qayamat Ki Raat. She made her Bollywood debut in Dosti: Friends Forever (2005) and appeared in Grand Masti (2013). Her most acclaimed work came with the lead role as investigative journalist Jagruti Pathak in Hansal Mehta's critically acclaimed Netflix thriller series Scoop (2023) — a fictional account inspired by journalist Jigna Vora's story — for which she received widespread critical praise and a Filmfare OTT Award for Best Actress. She is also known for playing Naagarjuna: Ek Yodda on Life OK and her roles in Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa Season 8 and Khatron Ke Khiladi 10. She married real estate businessman Varun Bangera on 5 February 2022 in Mumbai. In September 2014, she entered Bigg Boss Season 8 as one of the original contestants. She was one of five season co-winners, and in the subsequent spin-off Bigg Boss Halla Bol, she finished as the runner-up to Gautam Gulati.
