
Nithya (known as Nithya Balaji by association with her ex-husband) is an Indian dancer and entrepreneur born on 2 June 1983 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. She is the second wife of Tamil TV personality Thadi Balaji; they married in 2009 and divorced in 2017 after she filed domestic abuse allegations against him - which Balaji denied. The couple has a daughter named Poshika. Nithya had begun an MBA after their marriage, but Balaji reportedly objected to her attending college. After separating from Balaji, she participated in a fashion show on Women Entrepreneurs Day, founded the NGO WE-Women Endeavor in Chennai to support women, and opened The Bee School, a playschool in Chennai. She appeared alongside Thadi Balaji in Jodi No. 1 Season 9 on Star Vijay. In 2018, she was selected as the commoner contestant for Bigg Boss Tamil Season 2, uniquely entering the same house as her estranged ex-husband. She was evicted as the first public-vote elimination of the season in Week 4, finishing 15th.
