Arav (born Nafeez Kizar) is an Indian actor and model born on 31 October 1988 in Nagercoil, Tamil Nadu. His father, Dr. K. Nilamudeen, was a professor at Tiruchirappalli Government Law College, where the family relocated, and Arav spent his formative years in Trichy. He completed his schooling at Kamala Niketan Montessori School and earned a B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from Hindustan University, Chennai. He achieved a black belt in martial arts and initially prepared for the IAS examination at his parents' request before following his passion for acting and modelling. He appeared in over 300 television commercials and print ads before making his film debut in a small role in Mani Ratnam's O Kadhal Kanmani (2015). His first notable film role came in Saithan (2016), a Vijay Antony-starrer in which he played a significant part. He entered Bigg Boss Tamil Season 1 in June 2017 as a relatively unknown face, but his calm composure, strategic thinking, and popular friendship with co-contestant Oviya made him a fan favourite. After 97 days in the house, he was crowned the first-ever winner of Bigg Boss Tamil on 30 September 2017, taking home ₹50 lakh and the Vijay TV Face of the Channel award. He went on to play lead roles in Market Raja MBBS (2019) and Raja Bheema (2021). He married actress Raahei N. on 6 September 2020 and they have a son (born November 2021).
